Osseo Rental Housing Inspection

Maple Grove’s sister city, Osseo, has implemented a new rental housing inspection program.  Last year the City Council adopted a new rental housing licensing and inspection ordinance.  The standards are based upon the 2006 International Property Maintenance Code, which is used by most cities as the minimum standards for housing.

Osseo has contracted with the City of Brooklyn Park to do the inspections on the almost 400 rental units in the city.  Most of the small single family properties (homes, condos, and townhouses), will be inspected beginning February 16 with larger complexes to begin after that.  The goal is to inspect the common areas of larger buildings annually and individual units (including single family homes) every 3 years.

Rental Homes in Maple Grove have been required to have a rental license for several years now.  The fee in Maple Grove is $60 per year per rental unit.
